Valencia 4/7 to beat Celtic in Thursday’s Europa League tie

Competition: Europa League

Market: Valencia win

Odds: 4/7 @ Bet 365

Looking to book their spot in the quarterfinals of this year’s Europa League, Valencia will welcome Scottish champions Celtic to the Estadio de Mestalla on Thursday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Valencia might be on a run of form that has seen them draw four of their last five matches across all competitions, the Bats should be boosted by their 2-0 win away in Celtic Park last week. After going through the whole of the group stages without tasting defeat, the Whites have a very impressive European record at the Estadio de Mestalla. Valencia have won their last five Europa League matches on home soil and are unbeaten since September 2013. It is also worth noting that Thursday’s hosts have now gone over 300 minutes without conceding a goal.

As for the visitors, while Celtic might hold an eight-point buffer over Rangers in the race to defend their Premiership crown, the Hoops do hold a worrying European record, particularly on the road. Brendan Rodgers’ side have remarkably recorded just one away victory in the Europa League in their last 16 attempts, a run that stems back to August 2011. Given Valencia’s impressive run of form at the Estadio de Mestalla, coupled with their two-goal advantage, we’re backing another tough night on the road for the Premiership outfit.
