Sunderland 1/4 to stay up in the Premier League this season

Posted April 28th, 2014 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Premier League
Market: Sunderland to stay up
Odds: 1/4 @ William Hill

After picking up a important victory this weekend against Cardiff City, Sunderland are in the driving seat to stave off relegation with three games to go. The Black Cats are 17th in the league, with 32 points from 35 games, but a win in their game in hand will take them three points clear of the drop zone.

William Hill are giving the North-East outfit odds of 1/4 to stay up as a result of their fine league form. Sunderland, managed by Gus Poyet, have taken seven points from Manchester City, Chelsea and Cardiff City to haul themselves out of trouble.

They went on a winless run of nine league games between February & April, but have now arrested the slide and have their destiny now in their hands. Poyet’s men next face Manchester United at Old Trafford, while home matches against West Bromwich Albion & Swansea City will conclude the season. Despite having taken zero points from their trio of remaining opponents this season, Sunderland’s new-found confidence could see them picking up a result.
