As we reach the halfway point of the Irish Premier Division campaign, battles at both ends of the table remain incredibly tight. On that note, St Patricks will travel to Shamrock Rovers on Tuesday night.

For the hosts on Tuesday night, although Shamrock managed to secure a third-place finish last season, Rovers have struggled at the start of the new campaign. After 18 games this season, Shamrock have won six, drawn five and lost seven, scoring 24 and conceding 16 in return. With a points tally of 23, Shamrock currently sit fifth in the Irish Premier Division table and are now seven points adrift of their guests on Tuesday. As for their recent form, Rovers have now won just one of their last 10 matches in all competitions, losing five and drawing four. More worrying for the hosts, Shamrock have now failed to register a single goal in four of their last six outings. The hosts have also lost three of their last five matchups against St Patricks and one just one since 2016.

As for St Patricks, after securing a midtable finish last year, the vistors have enjoyed a far more successful campaign this time around. After 18 games this year, St Patricks have won nine, drawn three and lost six, scoring 25 and conceding 19 in return, the visitors hold the third best defensive record in the division. With a points tally of 30, St Patricks now sit fourth in the table and a win on Tuesday will see them jump into third spot. As for their recent form, the visitors have now won their last four matches on the bounce and have also kept a clean sheet in three of those appearances.
