Shakhtar Donetsk 8/15 to win against Young Boys in Tuesday’s Champions League qualifier

Competition: Champions League
Market: Shakhtar to win against Young Boys
Odds: 8/15 @ William Hill

Shakhtar Donetsk welcome Young Boys to the Arena Lviv for the first leg of the third round of their Champions League qualifier on Tuesday evening, and are big favourites to come out on top given home advantage and the gulf in class between the two sides.

Shakhtar finished second in the Ukrainian Premier League last season with 63 points from 26 games. The home side were formidable in their own backyard, winning 11 of 13 games at the Arena Lviv, and will fancy their chances against a travel sick Young Boys outfit.

The visitors also finished runners up in the Swiss Super League, but struggled for consistency on their travels. Young Boys failed to win 56% of their away games in the domestic league last season, and are likely to struggle in Shakhtar’s backyard.

Young Boys haven’t made it further than the third round of the Champions League qualifiers in the modern day, and have grown more accustomed to Europa League football as a result.

As for their opponents, Shakhtar made the semis of the Europa League last season, and have made the Champions League five times in the last eight years. As a result, William Hill are giving odds of 8/15 for Shakhtar to win against Young Boys on Tuesday.
