Robbie Fowler 11/1 to be appointed next Leeds United manager

Posted September 10th, 2014 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Championship
Market: Fowler to be next Leeds manager
Odds: 11/1 @ William Hill

With reports suggesting Robbie Fowler had recently applied for the vacant Leeds job, the former Muangthong United boss is in the running to succeed Dave Hockaday. Leeds owner Massimo Cellino sacked the former Watford coach after just six games this season, and the Yorkshire club are being tipped for a disappointing campaign, potentially culminating in relegation.

It’s imperative they bring in a permanent appointment soon, with Neil Redfearn having taken the reigns while the managerial position remains vacant. Leeds are in 18th place in the Championship this season, with six points amassed from their first five games, but the longer the uncertainty clouds over the club, the players will suffer on the pitch.

William Hill are giving odds of 11/1 for Fowler to be appointed the next manager, but he’s largely inexperienced, and this is a role that takes a head coach with vast experience in the game. As not only is Cellino a colourful owner to work under, the club have signed a host of obscure Italian talent that will need bedding into the squad.
