Real Madrid 6/5 to win in the Spanish La Liga title this season

Competition: Spanish La Liga
Market: Real Madrid to win the title
Odds: 6/5 @ William Hill

Real Madrid are hoping their Champions League triumph can finally lead to a title challenge in La Liga this season, and the Spanish giants are looking to spend accordingly to topple perennial champions and rivals Barcelona.

Zinedine Zidane’s men finished just one point adrift of Barcelona in the La Liga table last season, and enjoyed sensational form in 2016 (12 consecutive league wins). In addition to re-signing a former striker, Real are reportedly close to signing midfielder Paul Pogba from Juventus.

Such an attacking squad would see them blowing away teams in La Liga, but beating Barcelona is the most important aim. Real have a chance to make up six points on the Catalan giants next season if they can win El Clasico, and the confidence in the camp from their European triumphs could see a change in the title race.

Real Madrid are content with the squad after their impressive 2016, so it’s unlikely to see any notable departures. The Spaniards are expected to strengthen in the transfer market with a marquee signing who could finally see them finishing above Barcelona in the domestic league.

As a result, William Hill are giving odds of 6/5 for Real Madrid to win the Spanish La Liga title this season. They have finished with an average points tally of 90 in the last three campaigns, so 2016/17 could well see them going all the way.
