Queens Park Rangers’ in-form striker Charlie Austin 9/4 to be in the next England squad

Posted December 29th, 2014 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Premier League
Market: Charlie Austin to make the next England squad
Odds: 9/4 @ Ladbrokes

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin has shone in his first season in the Premier League, scoring 12 goals in 17 games in the top flight. The 25-year-old quickly built up a reputation for being a prolific goalscorer, hitting double figures for goals in nine of the last 10 full seasons with any respective club.

He bagged 20 goals as the Hoops earned promotion to the Premier League in the summer, and is the top English goalscorer in his debut campaign in the top tier.

As a result, many believe an England callup will be coming in 2015, with Three Lions manager Roy Hodgson likely to bring him into the side along with a few new additions – Harry Kane (Tottenham) – with a seemingly straight forward European qualifier to come against Lithuania.

It’s been an impressive rise to prominence for Charlie Austin, who was playing League One football only three years ago, and now Ladbrokes are giving odds of 9/4 for the in-form striker to make the next England squad, which should be announced in late March.
