Liverpool 1/3 to miss out on a top-four finish following Daniel Sturridge injury setback

Posted November 22nd, 2014 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Premier League
Market: Liverpool to miss out on top-four
Odds: 1/3 @ Coral

Liverpool are enduring a disappointing season, with Brendan Rodgers’s side The Reds have been without key players in their attack, while poor form has engulfed the majority of their summer arrivals too. The Merseyside outfit are currently 11th in the Premier League table, 15 points off league leaders Chelsea already.

They sold top scorer Luis Suarez to Barcelona this summer, and have lost Daniel Sturridge to injury. Sturridge was due to return by now for Liverpool, but suffered another setback in his recovery, which is expected to keep him out of action until January 2015.

Liverpool have dropped points against Manchester City, Aston Villa, West Ham, Newcastle, Chelsea, Hull City and Everton, which means they are off the pace to end the season in a Champions League place. Despite coming within two points of the title in 2013/14, Liverpool’s objectives are more reserved this time round, but Coral are giving odds of 1/3 for the Reds to finish outside of the top-four.

Until Sturridge returns, they will continue to struggle for goals which could cost them a top-four finish.
