Italy’s top league returns this weekend following a hugely disappointing international match-week. Italy were beaten over two legs by Sweden as Gianluigi Buffon signed off his international career in the most crushing way possible, with the World Cup in Russia a competition that will go ahead without Italy. The nation clearly needs a distraction from their footballing heartache, and the return of club football could provide that. With this in mind, Buffon returns to action with Juventus, as they travel to face Sampdoria.

Sampdoria have been in outstanding form this season. They currently sit sixth-place with 23 points, while they have won four of their last five games. Seven wins, two draws and just two defeats is a superb record, while they have been in good scoring touch, having found the back of the net 24 times already. The fact they have conceded 13 goals is hardly the most impressive record, and they need to tighten up at the back if they are to continue their good run of form.

For Juventus, it has been much of the same as every other season. While they find themselves in second-place, they are trailing Napoli by just a single point, having won 10 games, drawn once and having lost once. 35 goals scored is an outstanding record, however, they have conceded 11 times already, which is not quite the incredibly miserly defence that people have come to expect from the reigning champions. While Sampdoria will provide a firm test, we are backing Juventus with odds of 8/15 from Bet365.
