Iceland 4/9 to win this evening’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Latvia

Posted October 10th, 2015 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Euro 2016 Qualifier
Market: Iceland to win against Latvia
Odds: 4/9 @ William Hill

Iceland host Latvia their penultimate Euro 2016 qualifier which is a dead rubber fixture given the two sides have nothing to play for. Iceland have already booked their place in next year’s finals, while Latvia are miles off the pace, but the hosts are big favourites to come out on top given their fine form in Group A. Iceland will want to end a brilliant qualifying campaign with top spot, so they have some motivation to win as they’re locked on points with second place.

Currently leading the table after eight games, Iceland have been the surprise package of the qualifiers. They have picked up 19 points from a possible 24 in a group containing the Czech Republic, turkey and the Netherlands, and have only lost once. Their defensive record has been outstanding too, conceding just three goals in the eight games played, and they made light work of Latvia in their first meeting.

As a result, William Hill are giving odds of 4/9 for Iceland to pick up all three points against Latvia this evening to boost their chances of finishing top of the group, while confining the visitors to a ninth game without a win.
