On Thursday, Houston Dynamo will look to carry on their impressive form of late when they travel to the Rio Tinto Stadium to face off against Real Salt Lake.

For the hosts on Thursday, after securing an eighth-place finish in the Western Conference last season, Real Salt Lake will be hoping to secure a top half finish this time around. After 12 games in this campaign, Real Salt Lake have won five, drawn one and lost six, scoring 15 and conceding 25 in return, no team in the Western Conference holds a worse defensive record. With a points tally of 16, the hosts currently sit ninth in the table and while they do hold an eight-point buffer over bottom spot, an upset win for Salt Lake could see them jump as high as fifth temporarily. As for their recent form, the hosts have now won just two of their last five, losing the other three. Their recent record against Houston will also be a concern to The Reds, Real Salt Lake have failed to win any of their last four meetings between the two sides and have conceded seven in those matchups.

As for the visitors, after landing a Top Four finish and only finishing three points adrift of topping the Western Conference last year, Houston Dynamo have once again enjoyed a respectable start to their MLS campaign. After 11 games, the visitors have won five, drawn three and lost three, scoring 26 and conceding 18 in return, Houston hold the best-attacking stats in both the Western and Eastern conference. With a points tally of 18, Houston currently sit fifth in the table and a win for the visitors will see them leapfrog LAFC into second spot. As for their recent run of form, Houston have now lost just one of their last seven, winning four and drawing two. Most notably, while they have been unable to collect a clean sheet in their last 10 consecutive matches, the visitors have now scored 11 in their last four and have scored two or more goals in five of their last seven.
