Is defeat to Cardiff the final straw for relegation-threatened Fulham?

Posted March 8th, 2014 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Premier League
Market: Fulham to get relegated
Odds: 1/3 @ Betfair

After a humiliating 3-1 defeat to Cardiff City, Fulham find themselves in big trouble in their fight to stay in the Premier League. Despite coming up against what were the lowest scorers in the top-flight – who were also goalless in their previous four prior to today – Fulham still shipped three goals at the hands of the Bluebirds.

As a result, Betfair are giving odds of 1/3 for Fulham to be relegated come the end of the season. They have conceded the most goals, and managerial changes during the campaign have done little to aid their fortunes.

The Cottagers are winless in their last nine Premier League games. They have conceded three or more goals four times in their previous six outings. 20 defeats from their 29 games is the worst record in the league, and highlights the task at hand for Fulham to stay up.

With Fulham now four points adrift of safety after having played more games than the teams around them, it looks as though the Londoners are down this season. They cannot stop conceding goals, and now they are the favourite to be the first club to be relegated from the division.
