Aston Villa to boost survival hopes with a win against fellow-strugglers Norwich

Posted February 28th, 2014 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Premier League
Market: Aston Villa to win against Norwich
Odds: 23/20 @ William Hill

In a match being called the ‘Paul Lambert derby’, due to the rivalry being built up as a result of manager Paul Lambert leaving Norwich to join Villa in the summer 2012, Aston Villa are favourites for victory – with William Hill backing the Midlands side with odds of 23-20.

Since Norwich won promotion to the Premier League under Lambert in 2011, they’ve only beaten Aston Villa once in six meetings. And with the Canaries continuously poor away from home, Villa will consider Sunday’s clash as a good chance to correct their own patchy run of form.

Left-back Ryan Bertrand and midfielder Ashley Westwood are both set to return for the Villans. Norwich will have midfielder Leroy Fer and defender Ryan Bennett returning to action this weekend.

Both sides are neck and neck in the league table, with just goal difference putting Villa one place ahead of Norwich. Paul Lambert’s men are looking to do the double over the Canaries after beating Norwich 1-0 at Carrow Road in September.

As both Villa & Norwich are just four points ahead of the relegation zone, Sunday’s clash is being billed as a relegation six-pointer. But will Aston Villa emerge victorious?
