Aston Villa 1/7 to stay up in the Premier League this season

Posted August 18th, 2014 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Premier League
Market: Aston Villa to stay up
Odds: 1/7 @ Coral

After an impressive 1-0 win away to Stoke City, Aston Villa are being tipped to enjoy a much-improved campaign from the last two seasons they’ve had under manager Paul Lambert.

2012/13 & 2013/14 saw the Midlands outfit struggle to retain their Premier League status, but now Coral are giving odds of 1/7 for Villa to stave off relegation with ease.

Supporters have had little to cheer about in recent seasons since manager Paul Lambert took over, as they’ve endured disappointing bottom-half league finishes, while being knocked out to lower league opposition in the domestic cups.

There’s plenty of the season still to play, but Aston Villa look to have a much stronger starting eleven to achieve their goals this time round. Their defence is stronger, they have better midfield options, and they have many talented attackers when they return from injury. The side are starting to take some shape, and this season could see them finally push on in the league.

Lambert has managed to retain his top performing players of 2013/14, and that means he has a strong nucleus of a side to build on.
