Will Sunderland get to Wembley again with an FA Cup quarter-final win over Hull?

Posted March 3rd, 2014 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Premier League
Market: Sunderland to beat Hull in the FA Cup quarter-final
Odds: 5/2 @ Bet 365

Following Sunderland’s Capital One Cup final heartbreak at the hands of Manchester City, the Black Cats will certainly be desperate to atone for their defeat by getting back to Wembley in the more prestigious FA Cup. Hull City are their next opponents, and Bet 365 are giving odds of 5/2 for Gus Poyet’s men to get the semi-finals, which will be played at Wembley.

Hull do have home advantage going into the tie, but after having taken just one point from their last four matches at the KC Stadium could well give Sunderland confidence of seeing past another strong Premier League side in a cup competition.

The Black Cats cup runs may well have played a negative part in their league form at times, but the Hull clash is in six days which gives Poyet plenty of time to prepare, and there’s no league game in between to spoil the preparations.

Fighting for league survival and fighting for another chance at redemption of Wembley, Sunderland will be hurting and will look to put the pain and anguish into a positive performance of what promises to be a well-contested match at the KC Stadium for a place in the semi-finals. But can Sunderland do it?
