After a failed loan spell with Crystal Palace, Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford is desperate for game time if opportunities with the Blues aren’t coming his way this season, and Championship side Middlesbrough could well be a permanent destination this month as a result.

The 22-year-old spent last season at the Riverside Stadium, scoring 17 goals for Middlesbrough while on loan from Chelsea, and he could well renew acquaintances according to a number of reports. Bamford doesn’t appear to have a future with Chelsea, and will be open to a permanent move to promotion-chasing Boro to ensure more game time.

He was on the periphery all season at Crystal Palace and needs to be regularly featuring to continue his development as he isn’t getting any young. Bournemouth are another side reportedly keen on Bamford, but the striker is more likely to join a side he enjoyed fine form with in the past.

Bamford will want to fire the side to promotion this season and get himself back in the Premier League as soon as possible. As a result, Betfair are giving odds of 3/1 for Bamford to make to move to Middlesbrough in the January transfer window.
