Tottenham 1/2 to beat West Ham in Wednesday’s EFL Cup showdown

The EFL Cup comes to its conclusion for the round of 16 as a number of Premier League clubs look to book their place in the quarter-finals of the competition. Amongst them are Tottenham Hotspur who have been in marvellous form lately, and they take on struggling West Ham at Wembley.

As weeks go, it was a pretty good one for Spurs. The London side took a very respectable point from Real Madrid in Spain in the Champions League, before they hammered Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley in what was a very professional performance. Tottenham currently sit in third place in the league with 20 points, just five behind leaders Manchester City. 19 goals scored and six conceded shows that they are a superbly balanced team, and with Harry Kane up front, they always look like they have goals in them. The EFL Cup constitutes the perfect chance for Mauricio Pochettino and his men to display their growing influence and pick up the first trophy of the season.

It has not been the ideal start to the season for West Ham. Just two wins this campaign has not been good enough, while they have lost five of their other seven games. Eight goals scored and 20 conceded shows that they have struggled at both ends of the pitch and the entire team will have to improve if they are to get themselves out of trouble. Slaven Bilic is under immense pressure to start getting results, and with Ronald Koeman departing Everton on Monday, he may feel that he too is one bad result away from walking the plank. With Tottenham’s form in mind, Bet365 have given them odds of 1/2 to beat West Ham.
