Two sides who are looking to book their spot in the second round of this year’s FAI Cup, St Patrick’s will travel to a struggling UCD on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, continuing on what has been a worrying run of form in Ireland’s top-tier, UCD are an overwhelming favorite for the drop this season. In their 28 matches against Premier Division fixtures, they have recorded just five wins, two draws and 21 defeats, scoring 21 and conceding 62 in return, they also hold both the worst attacking and defensive record in the division. With a points tally of 17, UCD also sit 10 points adrift of Premier Division safety. As for their recent run of results, Friday’s hosts have lost four of their last five matches across all competitions and have also conceded 24 goals in their last five appearances.

As for the visitors, enjoying arguably their brightest run of the season, St Patrick’s have their sights set on mounting a late Cup run this year. In their 29 Premier Division matches this campaign, they have recorded 12 wins, seven draws and 10 defeats, scoring 24 and conceding 27 in return. With a points tally of 43, they also sit just six points adrift of securing a shock Europa League finish. As for their recent run of results, St Patrick’s have won each of their last three matches across all competitions and have also won three of their last four domestic matches on the road.
