Southampton recently saw past Hull City 2-0 on the weekend, which put them temporarily 5th in the Premier League table after 32 games. They can be overtaken by Liverpool, who play Newcastle on Monday, should the Reds pick up all three points, but for now the Saints are in pole position.

Manager Ronald Koeman is quietly confident of his side’s chances, and a top-six finish will mean Europa League football for next season. It would be of great reward for their fantastic campaign in the Premier League, but they still have work to do. Their win against Hull City was their first of the month, after having lost to Everton previously, but they have three bottom-half sides in their six remaining games, so they stand every chance of achieving their goal.

Assuming Liverpool will finish in the top-six, Tottenham are the only side who could realistically stop Southampton, but the Londoners are in poor form at a crucial time, and could well finish outside of the Europa League spots.
