Romelu Lukaku 3/10 to stay at Chelsea with Mourinho to give him last reprieve
Competition: Premier League
Market: Lukaku to stay at Chelsea
Odds: 3/10 @ Betfair
While Romelu Lukaku looked out of the picture at Chelsea this summer, with reports suggesting his future would be with Tottenham, Atletico Madrid or Everton, the Belgian striker has been given a lifeline with Chelsea to prove he belongs at Stamford Bridge.
Last summer, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho revealed Lukaku wasn’t good enough to play with the Blues, so he loaned him out to Everton, and with the arrival of Diego Costa this summer, Lukaku’s fate looked sealed with the Londoners.
But now Demba Ba has been sold, and Fernando Torres has been linked with a move back to former club Atletico Madrid, Chelsea could have just two main strikers for the new campaign that will surely see Lukaku getting a fair amount of game time. Betfair are giving odds of 3/10 for the 21-year-old to stay with his childhood supported club for at least another year.
With goal tallies of 15 last season with Everton, and 17 the campaign before with West Brom, it’s hard to ignore Lukaku’s talents in the Premier League. His deal with Chelsea runs until 2016, but this campaign could still be decisive.
