Real Salt Lake welcome San Jose Earthquakes to the Rio Tinto Stadium in the MLS on Thursday morning, and are big favourites to pick up all three points given the hosts have been hard to beat in recent weeks while the visitors have can’t stop the rot on the road. Real Salt Lake could go within a point of their opponents with a win this week narrowing the gap to a Final Series Playoff place.

As for the hosts, Mike Petke’s Real Salt Lake side are currently eight in the Western Conference with 29 points from 26 games this season. Real have suffered just one defeat from their previous seven outings and will fancy their chances against San Jose given how poor the visitors have been on their travels.

Chris Leitch’s San Jose Earthquakes side find themselves one place and four points better off than Real Salt Lake, but the away side’s form is likely to see them falling short. San Jose have suffered five consecutive defeats on their travels and are unlikely to deliver a shock performance at the Rio Tinto Stadium as a result.
