Real Madrid will be hoping they can avenge their Champions League elimination of last season to Borussia Dortmund when they face them again tonight. The Spanish giants were knocked out over two legs to Dortmund in the semi-finals last time out, but are big favourites to turn it around this time.

Betfair are giving odds of 2/9 for Carlo Ancelotti’s men to qualify for the Champions League, and they’ll certainly be desperate to try and end their 12-year wait for European honours. 2002 remains the last time Madrid won the prestigious tournament, but they have a great chance to prove they can be dominant in Europe once again.

Shaky recent results in the league has seen them give the advantage to their Spanish compatriots, so the Champions League could be their saving grace. Ancelotti has won it before and he’d love to win it again in his first season with a side who have won it a record nine-times in their history.

Dortmund haven’t been themselves this season. Questionable league results and showings in the Champions League will give Madrid hope of emerging victorious over two legs. How far can they go?
