Reading 4/6 to beat Wycombe in Tuesday’s Championship showdown

Competition: Reading win

Market: Championship

Odds: 4/6 @ 888sport

Hoping to continue on what has been a very impressive start to the 2020/2021 campaign, Reading will host Wycombe from behind closed doors on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, shocking almost everyone at the start of the New Year, Reading find themselves in the midst of a very eye-catching start to proceedings. In their opening five Championship contests so far this season, they have recorded four wins against a single draw, scoring seven and conceding just one in return. One of just three sides who are yet to taste defeat since opening the 2020/2021 campaign, it should also be noted that along with finding themselves sat second in the table, Reading hold the best defensive record in the division after returning from the international break. As for their recent run of results, despite only collecting a point away at Middlesbrough last time out, Reading have won each of their other four Championship matchups on the bounce and it should be noted that they have conceded just a single goal over their last four contests across all formats.

As for the visitors, enduring what has been a hugely worrying start to the 2020/2021 campaign, Wycombe already find themselves scrapping it out at the foot of the table. In their opening five Championship contests so far this season, they are remarkably yet to record a single second-tier point and are in fact the only Championship outfit who are yet to get themselves on the board. It should also be noted, scoring just a single strike so far this season and conceding 12 goals in return, Wycombe hold both the worst attacking and defensive record in the division. As for their recent run of results, losing all six of their matchups across all formats this year, they also signed off their pre-season preparations with back-to-back defeats and should be in for another long night on the road in midweek. Given the huge gulf in class between the two sides of late, we’re backing a home victory for Reading on Tuesday.
