Portugal 4/7 to win Group F in Euro 2016
Competition: Euro 2016
Market: Portugal to win Group F
Odds: 4/7 @ William Hill
Portugal have endured a slow start in the Euro 2016 group stages, but A Selecção could yet progress into the last-16 as group winners if they can get maximum points in their final outing against current leaders Hungary, all the while hoping Iceland drop points to Austria.
Portugal are third in Group F with two points from their first two games, having been held by both Iceland and Austria so far. They are two points adrift of leaders Hungary going into the final game, meaning a win in Wednesday’s clash will seal their place at the summit if Iceland fail to win their game.
Iceland could yet throw a spanner in the works as they’re locked on points with Portugal, but Fernando Santos’ side need to get a result regardless with how perilous their situation is. Portugal aren’t guaranteed qualification in third with such a low points tally so they can’t really afford anything less than all three points.
Goals have been hard to come by for A Selecção, but they will fancy their chances against a Hungarian side with little quality through the team. Despite their struggles so far, Portugal are favourites to win against the leaders this week with their superior playing squad and obvious attacking threat.
