Plymouth 11/5 to beat Charlton in Saturdays League One clash
Competition: League One
Market: Plymouth to beat Charlton
Odds: 11/5 @ Bet365
With the League One table reaching the business end of the season, English football’s third tier remains incredibly tight at both ends of the table with just a single point seeing a team jump several places. On that note, playoff hopefuls Plymouth will travel to the Valley to face a Charlton side flirting with mid-table.
For the hosts on Saturday afternoon, it appears that Charlton are once again going to have to settle for a mid-table finish once again. After 36 League One matches this season, Charlton have recorded 14 wins, 10 draws and 12 losses, scoring 44 and conceding 46, Charlton’s points tally of 52 now sees them sat 9th in the League One table. While they may only sit five points adrift of the top six, Charlton have been unable to mount a serious playoff push and have now failed to win any of their last four appearances. Now with just a two-point buffer over the bottom half of the table, Charlton will need to improve on their home form if they want to avoid slipping down the table. Charlton have won just two of their last 12 matches at The Valley.
As for the visitors, it has been an incredibly impressive season for Plymouth after being promoted from League Two last year. After 37 League One matches this season, Plymouth have 16 wins, nine draws and 12 defeats, scoring 47 and conceding 45. With a points tally of 57, Plymouth now sit sixth in the table and the prospect of shock back to back promotions is still on the cards. Plymouth currently hold a two-point advantage over seventh place Peterborough, however, a win on Saturday could see them jump up to fifth. As for their recent form, Plymouth are unbeaten in their last eight League One matches, winning seven and drawing one. They’re also unbeaten in their last eight away matches, winning five of those.
