Phil Brown 8/13 to be next Bolton Wanderers manager
Competition: Championship
Market: Phil Brown to be next Bolton manager
Odds: 8/13 @ 888 Sport
Former Hull City manager Phil Brown has been linked with the Bolton Wanderers vacancy, with reports suggesting the current Southend boss is considering a return to the Championship to try and keep the Trotters in the division.
Neil Lennon recently left the Wanderers following a season of struggle and limited resources, coupled with a ferocious fan backlash, and the club are now seeking a prompt replacement. Brown has oodles of Football League experience, and is said to be interested in a potential move.
The 56-year-old played for Bolton in his career, and was an assistant to Sam Allardyce as a coach. The club have recently undergone a takeover which coincided with Lennon’s exit, and they are likely to pick a fan-favourite to take the reins for the remainder of the campaign.
Phil Brown admitted having ambition of managing at the “highest possible level”, but also admitted he had a job to do at Southend. The experienced coach most notably took Hull City to the Premier League for the first time in their history, and earned promotion with Southend more recently to League One.
He’s being backed by 888 Sport with odds of 8/13 to be the next Bolton manager, and has a task on his hands given the side are currently 11 points adrift of safety.
