Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani 4/11 to be top goalscorer in the French Ligue 1 this season
Competition: French Ligue 1
Market: Cavani to be top goalscorer
Odds: 4/11 @ William Hill
Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani wasn’t at his best in Saturday’s narrow victory against Stade Rennais in the French Ligue 1 but the Uruguayan remains top of the scoring charts at the mid-point of the season and could be in line for the Golden Boot as things stand.
The 29-year-old has scored 18 goals in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season, successfully replacing Zlatan Ibrahimovic who left at the end of his contract to join Manchester United in the summer, and is three goals ahead of the chasing pack going into the next round of games.
Edinson Cavani has had more shots per game than any other player in the division, creating numerous opportunities with his outstanding movement off the ball and will be key to keeping the Parisians in the title race. Cavani’s finishing has been called into question at times but the South American attacker is key for PSG, scoring 46% of their league goals.
Olympique Lyonnais’ Alexandre Lacazette has 15 goals, while AS Monaco’s Radamel Falcao is third in the list with 12 goals. With PSG creating numerous chances per game for Cavani, who has averaged a goal a game in the league this season, William Hill are giving odds of 4/11 for Cavani to finish as the top scorer in 2016/17.
