Over 2.5 goals at West Brom vs Brentford 10/11 for Tuesday’s EFL Cup tie
Competition: EFL Cup
Market: Over 2.5 goals
Odds: 10/11 @ 888sport
In what could prove to be a high-scoring encounter in midweek, Premier League outfit West Brom will host Brentford from behind closed doors on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, while West Brom might have managed to secure their spot in the fourth round of this year’s EFL Cup thanks to a 3-0 victory against League Two outfit Harrogate Town last week, they have struggled to find their feet following their Premier League return. Including opening up the 2020/2021 campaign with a 3-0 defeat on home soil against Leicester, the Baggies were also on the wrong end of what turned out to be a thumping 5-2 defeat away at Everton over the weekend. With each of their opening three competitive contests this season seeing over 2.5 goals by the final whistle, it is also worth highlighting that continuing on from last season’s interrupted campaign, four of West Brom’s previous six home fixtures have finished with an identical scoreline.
As for the visitors, while Brentford might have opened the 2020/2021 Championship campaign with a sluggish defeat away at Birmingham City earlier in the month, they have managed to bounce back in style. Booking their spot in the fourth-round of this year’s EFL Cup thanks to a shock 2-0 win away at another Premier League outfit in Southampton last week, the second-tier side also managed to clinch their first Championship victory of the New Year over the weekend thanks to a 3-0 thumping win at home against Huddersfield Town. Along with all three of their pre-season matchups seeing over 2.5 goals by the final whistle, it is also worth highlighting that three of their last four Championship matchups continuing on from last season have finished in an identical scoreline.
