Looking to put together their final preparations before they travel to Russia for this summers World Cup finals, on Monday night France will welcome the Republic of Ireland to the Stade de France.
For the hosts on Monday night, after reaching the finals of Euro 2016 on their home turf, France will be looking to go one step further this summer. After shining during the qualifying stages, The Blues won seven of their 10 group matches, drawing two and only losing once, scoring 18 and conceding just six in return, France finished with the best defensive record in Group A. Now placed in a group with Australia, Denmark and Peru, The French are once again favorites to top Group C and their recent form has continued to impress. France have now only lost one of their last nine matches and have now scored two or more in their last five outings on the bounce.
As for the visitors, despite a late push securing the Republic of Ireland second spot in Group D, The Irish were unable to come past Denmark in the knockout stages and once again miss out on another World Cup finals. In their 10 Group stage matches, Ireland won five, drew four and lost one, scoring 12 and conceding six in return aswell. As for their recent form, Ireland are still trying to recover from a 5-1 home defeat to Denmark that ended their World Cup dreams and have now failed to win any of their last three outings, drawing one and losing two. The visitors also don’t hold the best record against their opponents on Monday, Ireland have now only managed to beat France once in their last eight meetings.
