Northern Ireland 7/5 to see past strugglers Greece in tonight’s Euro 2016 qualifier
Competition: Euro 2016 Qualifier
Market: Northern Ireland to win against Greece
Odds: 7/5 @ Betfair
Northern Ireland have all but made the finals of next year’s European Championship, but Michael O’Neill’s men still have a job to do against Greece tonight. Currently leading the way in their qualifying group, Northern Ireland have to dispatch of a struggling Greece side without a win in the campaign to ensure of their place in the 2016 tournament, so they’ll be full of confidence at Windsor Park.
O’Neill’s side are top of Group F after eight games, and are enjoying a four point lead outside of the top-two automatic qualification spots. They are top by a single point over Romania, so the pressure is on to maintain their advantage over the rest of the pack. Northern Ireland are in fine form ahead of this week’s clash too, with the home side having picked up eight points from their last four games.
Losing just once in the group sees the favourites in perfect shape ahead of an important outing, and Greece’s woes in the group suggest a one-sided affair. The visitors are bottom of Group F with just three points for their troubles. They are without a win in the qualifier, and have scored just two goals in their eight games played. Greece have nothing to play for with their fate already sealed, so they’re unlikely to put up much of a fight.
Northern Ireland have 17 points from a possible 24 in Group F, and have surprised many with their consistency. No team has scored more goals in the table, and opponents Greece are big underdogs as a result. There should be only one winner this evening.
