Competition: A-League

Market: Melbourne City win

Odds: 7/10 @ 888sport

Looking to continue on what has been a hugely impressive purple patch, Melbourne City will make the trip to Western United on Thursday morning.

Starting with the hosts, slumping back to losing ways last time out, Western United have continued on what has been another worrying rut. In their opening 11 A-League matchups so far this season, they have recorded four wins, two draws and five defeats, scoring 18 and conceding 18 in return. Managing to muster themselves a points tally of 14 out of a possible 33, they open the midweek fixtures sat down in 10th and already six points adrift of the Final Series spots. As for their recent run of results, last seen getting hit with a 2-1 defeat away at Macarthur, Western United have lost three of their last four A-League matchups. More worrying for Thursday’s hosts, they have lost all five of their previous meetings against the title-chasers.

As for the visitors, really marching on what has been a stellar purple patch, Melbourne City should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. In their opening 12 A-League matchups so far this season, they have recorded eight wins against four defeats, scoring 26 and conceding 13 in return. Opening up the midweek fixtures sat just two points adrift of climbing to the top of the table, it should also be noted that The Blues hold both the best attacking and defensive records in the division. As for their recent run of results, last seen picking up a thumping 4-1 win against the Western Sydney Wanderers, Melbourne City have won each of their last six A-League matchups on the spin, bagging over 1.5 goals in each of those wins.
