Competition: Premier League
Market: Martin O’Neill to be next Leicester manager
Odds: 3/1 @ Betfair
With Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson on the brink, many names have been thrown into the hat who the Foxes could be considering to approach. The top pick is currently Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill. He managed Leicester between 1995 and 2000, earning promotion to the Premier League in 1996, and winning two Football League Cups in 1997 and 2000.
The 62-year-old hasn’t managed in England since his sacking from Sunderland in 2013, but it’s thought he would be open to a return in the right capacity. Leicester supporters considering him the beloved manager who got away, as their fortunes soured following his exit. O’Neill would be welcomed back to the King Power Stadium with open arms, but is one of many names linked with the position.
Former player Neil Lennon, ex-Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood, and previous Newcastle and Manchester City boss Kevin Keegan are all said to be in the frame, but Betfair are giving odds of 3/1 for O’Neill to replace Pearson as Leicester manager when the current boss leaves.
