Manchester United 1/2 to sign Juventus’ Paul Pogba this summer
Competition: Premier League
Market: Man Utd to sign Paul Pogba
Odds: 1/2 @ William Hill
Manchester United are reportedly close to signing Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba for a fee said to be around £100M this summer as manager Jose Mourinho bolsters a side to finally win the Premier League title after a barren few seasons.
The Red Devils have struggled in the English top flight since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, but Mourinho has set his stall out from the off since being appointed as Louis van Gaal’s successor. Pogba is a player who has been on United’s radar ever since they let him go, but as the Frenchman left on a free there’s no buyback clause on his contract.
The Juventus midfielder has impressed for France during this summer’s European Championships, and has been identified as a player who could be the best midfielder in the world in the future. However, such talent with the room for even more development meant Pogba’s former club would be priced out of a move.
However, the lucrative funds for Premier League sides, coupled with Manchester United’s profit made through commercial income and merchandise means they can afford one marquee signing that breaks the transfer record. Gareth Bale’s £85M switch to Real Madrid is a world record, but Pogba’s proposed £100M move will surpass that.
William Hill are giving odds of 1/2 for Juventus’ Paul Pogba to join Manchester United this summer, in a deal that will break the transfer record and send shockwaves through Europe.
