Manchester City 4/5 to finish the 2014/15 campaign trophyless

Posted July 16th, 2014 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Premier League
Market: Man City to finish the season trophyless
Odds: 4/5 @ William Hill

Despite winning the title in the previous campaign, Manchester City have a lot of unresolved issues for 2014/15. Yaya Toure has been linked with a move away after criticising the club on two separate occasions this summer for what he perceived to be as mistreatment.

Top striker Sergio Aguero has had injury problems in the last few months, and could be doubtful to start the season as he’s had a World Cup campaign taking its toll on his legs. His strike-partner of last season, Alvaro Negredo, lost his form during the tail-end of last season and has been rumoured to be exiting the Etihad.

There are also the departures of Gareth Barry, Joleon Lescott and Costel Pantilimon, and the inevitable exits of Micah Richards and Jack Rodwell that will see the club losing a bit of strength in depth.

With the club somewhat in disarray, William Hill are giving odds of 4/5 for the Citizens to end the campaign trophyless. They won the Premier League title and Capital One Cup last season, and are among the favourites to regain the league crown, but the resurgence of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United could provide stiff competition.
