After suffering a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Liverpool in the league, Manchester United now have a difficult task of trying to preserve their Champions League status, as they won’t be in the tournament next season unless they win it this campaign.

But with a two-goal deficit to make back against the impressive Olympiakos, it’s highly unlikely David Moyes’ men can claw their way out of trouble. As a result of their plight, Betfair are giving odds of 1/4 for the title holders to be eliminated at the hands of the Greek champions.

Should United fail in their task to overturn the deficit, they will be resigned to ending their season trophyless and without Champions League football next season – the latter of which hasn’t happened since the inception of the Premier League.

It’s been a more than disastrous season for manager David Moyes, whose own future is still in doubt, but he remains his side can challenge for honours under him. But with the manner of which they were outplayed by Olympiakos in the first leg, it seems unlikely they will win anything this season.
