Looking to try and close the gap at the top of the Western Conference, Los Angeles will welcome a struggling San Jose Earthquakes side to the Banc of California stadium on Saturday night.

Starting with the hosts, although consistency has been their biggest concern, Los Angeles are once again enjoying a fine run of form. After 28 MLS matches, The Whites have won 13, drawn eight and lost seven, scoring 55 and conceding 43 in return. Now just four point adrift of Sporting KC, Los Angeles also hold the second best-attacking stats in either conference. As for their recent form, the hosts, Los Angeles are currently unbeaten in their last five MLS outings, scoring 10 times. However, they have now managed to pick up just two clean sheets in their last 10 outings.

As for the visitors, while San Jose have shown some signs of improvements in the final third, they are still drastically out of form and a spot in the playoffs is all but gone for another year. After 29 MLS games, The Earthquakes have won just four matches, drawing eight and lost 17, scoring 45 and conceding 61, they now hold the worst defensive record in either the Western or the Eastern Conference. Already 24 points adrift of the top six, while San Jose have scored in each of their last eight matches, they have just two wins since the start of May and have lost five of their last six.
