Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling 6/4 to remain at Anfield this summer
Competition: Premier League
Market: Raheem Sterling to stay at Liverpool
Odds: 6/4 @ Betfair
Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling was the subject of two bids from Manchester City earlier this summer, but the Reds quickly turned down both approaches, and now the England international appears set to stay at Anfield for at least another season.
The 20-year-old admitted he stalled talks on a new deal with Liverpool due to his ambition to win trophies at the highest level. He hinted in an unsanctioned interview that such an objective wouldn’t be easy with Liverpool, which is why he was considering a move away. As a result, the England man looked nailed on for an exit, especially when Manchester City made approaches.
However, the Sky Blues don’t appear keen to match Liverpool’s lofty valuation of Raheem Sterling, and the young forward may be forced to remain at Anfield this summer. It’s not an ideal situation for both club and player given Liverpool have already spent money in preparation for his exit – with Hoffenheim forward Roberto Firmino signing for £30M ahead of the new season.
Nevertheless, Betfair are giving odds of 6/5 for Sterling to remain a Liverpool play in the summer transfer window, with no side seemingly keen to match the Reds’ asking price.
