After Liverpool were eliminated from the Champions League at the group stages following a 1-1 home draw against FC Basel, manager Brendan Rodgers will know he is on the brink with the Merseyside club. The former Swans boss had been lauded only six months ago for turning Liverpool into one of the best sides in the Premier League, but things couldn’t be more contrasting now.

The Reds finished third in the Champions League group, meaning they will play Europa League football as consolation, but they will be bitterly disappointed that their Champions League dream has ended so early. Domestically, they have been struggling too, with Liverpool currently 15 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, and their poor home form (11 played, 4 wins, 4 draws, 3 defeats) also a problem.
