While Manchester City may be marching towards the Premier League title this year, battles at both ends of the table remain remarkably tight and a single point could see a side jump up several places. On that note, Jurgen Klopp’s top-four hopefuls will play host to Watford on Saturday evening.
For the hosts on Saturday evening, Jurgen Klopp will be desperate for his Liverpool side to bounce back from last weekend’s slip up against Manchester United. After 30 Premier League games this season, Liverpool have won 17 times, drawn nine and lost four, scoring 68 times and conceding 34 in return, the Reds boast the second best-attacking statistics in the league. With a points tally of 60, Liverpool currently hold that lucrative fourth spot and now hold a four-point buffer over defending champions Chelsea. As for their recent form, aside from 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford last Saturday, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competions and have only failed to find the net in the Premier League once in since the start of 2018.
As for Watford, after bring in former Malaga manager Javi Garcia, the Hornets have managed to find some stability and despite briefly being dragged into a relegation battle, Watford now sit 10th in the Premier League table and more importantly, they now sit nine points adrift of the drop zone. In their 30 mathces this season, Watford have won 10, drawn six and lost the remaining 14, conceding 50 goals and scoring 39 in return, Watford’s point tally of 36 could see them leap frog Everton if they can pull of a surprise upset. Coming off the back of a 3-0 defeat away at Arsenal last Sunday, Watford have failed to win in their last five away matches, losing four and drawing one.
