Liverpool 11/20 to finish outside of the top-four in the Premier League this season
Competition: Premier League
Market: Liverpool to not finish top-four
Odds: 11/20 @ William Hill
Liverpool have been busy in the transfer market this summer, acquiring a host of players in bid to build a squad capable to challenge on all fronts in manager Jurgen Klopp’s first full season in charge. However, the competition in the Premier League could see them falling short of their objectives this season.
Liverpool finished eighth in the Premier League last season, with 60 points from their 38 games. The Merseysiders ended up six points adrift of a top-four spot after a dip in form in their last few league games, which was perhaps as a result of their Europa League excursions at the time.
Nevertheless, Klopp’s men are desperate to get back into the Champions League to challenge the best European sides, but they may have a good chance for a better league campaign as there will be no European football at Anfield in 2016/17. It gives them a chance to focus on domestic duties, but the sides chasing fourth won’t lie down.
Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are expected to occupy the top-four, leaving the likes of Leicester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Everton fighting it out for a top-six spot. As a result, William Hill are giving odds of 11/20 for Liverpool to miss out on a top-four finish this coming campaign.
