Two sides looking to pick up some real momentum heading into this summer’s European Championships, Italy will host the Czech Republic for a friendly matchup on Friday night.
Starting with the hosts, picking up another thumping victory last time out, Italy have found themselves enjoying what has been a real purple patch heading into the summer. Romping their way to the Nations League semi-finals in what was a hugely impressive fashion, The Blues were unbeaten in each of their six League A contests and topped the group over Holland. Continuing on that momentum, the former world champions also opened their World Cup qualifying campaign by winning each of their opening three matchups by a scoreline of 2-0. In fact, playing out a thumping 7-0 victory against San Marino when making their first friendly appearance last week, Italy have won each of their last seven straight matchups across all formats, recording a clean sheet in each of those seven victories.
As for the visitors, while the Czech Republic might have continued to impress many across Europe, they have gained a reputation for their struggles on the road. Despite romping their way to a maiden League A campaign in the Nations League for next time around, The Reds were last seen getting hit with a shock 1-0 defeat away at Wales back in March. Failing to build off of that 1-1 draw against European giants Belgium on World Cup qualifying duties earlier in the year, it should be noted that the Czech’s have lost three of their last four away fixtures across all formats. Drawing a blank in each of those three defeats, including a 1-0 loss against Scotland in Glasgow, we’re backing what should be another tough trip for Friday’s guests this week.
