Looking to secure an automatic spot at next year’s European Championships, Iceland will make the trip to an inconsistent Albania on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, enduring an inconsistent start to qualifying in Group H, Albania now find themselves as a huge underdog in the race to secure a top-two finish. In their opening five contests in Group H, they have managed to record two victories against a trio of defeats. Including a 4-1 loss against France last time out, Albania have also suffered defeats against Turkey and a 1-0 loss against Iceland back in June. Now sat six points adrift of the top-two, it is also worth noting that Tuesday’s hosts have managed to win just three of their last 12 matches on home soil.

As for the visitors, although they may currently find themselves out of the top-two, Iceland have begun to show some signs of an improvement. Now securing three victories on the bounce after picking up wins over Albania, Moldova, and Turkey, the Blues have won four of their five Group H appearances with their only defeat coming against France back in June. With only their goal difference keeping them behind Turkey and a spot at next year’s European Championships, it is also worth noting that Iceland have lost just one of their last four matches on the road.
