Gremio welcome Corinthians to the Arena do Grêmio in the Brazilian Serie A this evening, and could well come out on top in what should be a close game given the two sides currently occupy the top two spots in the table. Gremio have been flawless at home while Corinthians have shown some chinks in the armour on the road which could well decide the game.

As for the hosts, Renato Portaluppi’s Gremio side are currently second in the Brazilian Serie A with 22 points from nine games this season, boasting an impressive five wins from six. Gremio have been even stronger in their own backyard, having won all four of their games at the Arena do Grêmio without conceding. Two of their last three wins overall have come against top-six sides too.

Fábio Carille’s Corinthians side find themselves one place and one point better off than Gremio, but have identical form with five wins in six. Away from home, they are unbeaten, but drew their last away game and conceded twice in the one that preceded it. Tonight’s game will be tight but Gremio might have enough on home soil to nick it.
