Germany 5/6 to see past struggling Netherlands in tonight’s international friendly
Competition: International Friendly
Market: Germany to win against Netherlands
Odds: 5/6 @ William Hill
Germany square off with the Netherlands in an international friendly this week, and are hoping to make up for their recent defeat to France with a result on Tuesday. The Eagles have been somewhat shaky this year, but their opposition have been in poor form so their meeting at the HDI-Arena could go the way of the hosts.
Germany topped their Euro 2016 qualifying group, but it was far from flawless. Joachim Lowe’s men dropped points during the campaign to the likes of the Republic of Ireland and Poland, and their defeat to France has proven they are still human. Germany’s post-World Cup form has been very hit and miss in all competitions, with Australia and USA having thwarted the World champions in friendlies. Nevertheless, they will have confidence of winning at home given the Netherlands’ plight.
The Oranje haven’t been the same since the 2014 World Cup either, failing to qualify for the 2016 European Championships. Netherlands have suffered defeats to the likes of USA, Iceland, Turkey and the Czech Republic this year, and played out a seven-goal affair to a weakened Wales side only recently. As a result, Germany are favourites to come out on top, piling the misery onto an already struggling Netherlands outfit at the HDI-Arena on Tuesday night.
While a meaningless friendly, Germany will be using this fixture as a chance to test out some fringe players, while their opposition are looking to restore some dignity following year to forget. However, the Oranje are still out of sorts, and have a difficult task to get a result away to the World champions, so Germany are in the driving seat to win.
