Germany 10/11 to see past Portugal in their maiden World Cup group game
Competition: World Cup
Market: Germany to win against Portugal
Odds: 10/11 @ Betfair
The 2010 semi-finalists Germany have Portugal to play this evening, and are favourites to get three points on the board in Group G. Managed by Joachim Low, who’s been in charge since 2006, is running out of time to deliver for Germany following a host of near misses in international tournaments.
Germany have finished semi-finals or better in the last four consecutive major international tournaments, while never winning since their World Cup triumph in 1990. This summer’s tournament is a great opportunity for them to finally go all the way and deliver, but the hot and humid climate could see them faltering.
A win against Portugal today would put Germany top of their group with three points and within touching distance of reaching the next round. But it won’t be easy for them.
Portugal have Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, who also recently declared himself fit to play in today’s clash. They reached this summer’s tournament via the playoffs, but can surprise many on their day. Selecção won three of their last four games prior to the World Cup, conceding only two goals.
