Gary Neville 7/1 to be the next England manager when Roy Hodgson exits post
Market: Gary Neville to be next England manager
Odds: 7/1 @ 888 Sport
While England’s current manager Roy Hodgson still has two more years to go on his contract with the Three Lions, discussions are being made about who will be his successor. Assistant manager Gary Neville is the bookies’ favourite, with 888 Sport backing him with odds of 7/1, but Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho is another coach who’s been linked.
Hodgson will be in charge of England for Euro 2016, but unless the Three Lions were to enjoy their best campaign in the European championship, he’s expected to leave his post at the end of his contract. It will leave the door open to Gary Neville as his replacement, as the FA are keen to keep their appointments to English-only.
Neville has been praised during his time as coach for his tactical astuteness and how well he reads the game when being a guest analysis in his media work. Many believe his appointment as Hodgson’s number two was to ready him in the role so he could succeed the English manager eventually.
