Competition: Premier League
Market: Remi Garde to be next Aston Villa manager
Odds: 8/13 @ Coral

Aston Villa are close to appointing former Olympique Lyonnais manager Remi Garde as their next manager following the sacking of Tim Sherwood. The Midlands club are currently bottom of the league after 10 games, and are in desperate need of an influential boss who can work magic with a mismatched squad.

Six consecutive defeats in the Premier League led to Sherwood’s departure, and immediately a number of names ere being mentioned as his potential successor. Real Sociedad’s David Moyes, former Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson and Saint-Etienne’s Christophe Galtier were the frontrunners, but Remi Garde looks to have won the race.

The 49-year-old spent three years in charge of French Ligue 1 club Lyon, stabilising the club while having lost key players from the side throughout. He kept Lyon competitive in the division, and would know Villa’s French contingent of players well from his time in the league, so he could be a good fit at Villa Park.

Despite the delay with the Claret and Blues trying to line up his backroom staff, Coral are giving odds of 8/13 for Garde to be appointed next Villa manager.
