Former Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert 2/7 to be next Blackburn Rovers manager
Competition: Championship
Market: Paul Lambert to be next Blackburn Rovers manager
Odds: 2/7 @ Betfair
Blackburn Rovers are searching for a new manager following the sacking of Gary Bowyer, and ex-Aston Villa and Norwich City boss Paul Lambert is in the frame to replace him. Lambert was sacked during his time at Villa, but somehow kept the Midlands club in the Premier League with a very weak squad, and such work did earn him plaudits.
Lambert took Norwich City from League One to the Premier League in quick time and somewhat stabilised the club in his first season in the top flight. He has a proven track record, and would fit the Blackburn philosophy perfectly as he’s a manager of substance over style.
Rovers have continued to fall short in their pursuit for promotion, and a number of managers are being linked to be the one to get them back in the Premier League. In addition to Lambert, former Everton, Manchester United and Real Sociedad boss David Moyes is among the names, while ex-Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has been rumoured to be interested in joining his former club.
However, Paul Lambert boasts a good more recent record at this level, and Betfair are giving odds of 2/7 for the Scot to be named next Blackburn Rovers manager.
