Grasshoppers and FC Zurich lock horns at the Letzigrund in the Swiss Super League on Sunday afternoon, in a game that could see newly-promoted Zurich pick up all three points. Grasshoppers greatly struggled last season while Zurich impressed en route to their eventual promotion to the top-flight, and the momentum with the newcomers could see them coming out on top.

Carlos Bernegger’s Grasshopper side finished eighth in the Swiss Super League last season with 38 points from 36 games, having suffered 18 defeats. Grasshoppers have been hit and miss in pre-season, suffering two defeats in their previous four outings, and could well come unstuck to Zurich as a result.

As for the new-boys, Ulrich Forte’s FC Zurich earned a spot in the Swiss Super League after topping the Challenge League with 85 points from 36 games. Zurich lost just three games last season, scoring more than 90 goals, and will fancy their chances given the two sides share the same stadium.

Pre-season has seen Zurich winning one and drawing two of their last five games, and William Hill are giving odds of 23/20 for FC Zurich to win against Grasshoppers.
