Everton’s Ross Barkley 2/11 to ignore transfer news and remain at Goodison Park this summer

Posted July 27th, 2014 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Premier League
Market: Barkley to stay at Everton
Odds: 2/11 @ 888 Sport

With six goals, 26 chances created and 80 successful dribbles, Everton midfielder Ross Barkley was hot property this summer. The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City were all said to be interested in his services, but Toffees manager Roberto Martinez was adamant the England international would not be sold.

He’s been so far true to his word with Barkley set to play an important role in the Everton team for this season. The youngster is being valued in excess of £20M, which has proven a stumbling block despite his obvious talent.

As a result of the lack of official interest, 888 Sport are giving odds of 2/11 for Barkley to stay at Goodison Park this season to pick up where he left off in 2013/14, where the Merseyside outfit finished fifth in the Premier League, while Barkley received a PFA Young Player of the Year nomination for his efforts.

While he wants to give himself the best chance of representing England on a regular basis in 2014/15, he’s far more likely to get the game time for Everton to prove his quality.
